sun peaks, Canada

february 19 - 26, 2022

Sun Peaks Resort is British Columbia's ski destination resort and Canada's 2nd largest ski area with over 4,270 acres of ski terrain!

Sun Peaks is a ski resort with something to offer for everyone, but it’s well-known to be particularly popular with families. The slopes are well laid out coupled with the convenience of the ski-in/ski-out village. Sun Peaks has a well-known ambassador in Nancy Greene, Director of Ski Operations, who was an Olympic gold medalist and “Canadian female athlete of the 20th century.” It’s not uncommon to see her on the slopes.

Prior to 1993, Sun Peaks was known as Tod Mountain. Since that time the ski resort has evolved significantly including the addition of more terrain, a purpose-built village, and modern facilities and services.

Skiing

Sun Peaks ski resort has 130+ runs and 2,893' of vertical. The ski terrain is spread across multiple mountains – Sundance, Mt. Tod and Mt. Morrisey. Sunny Sundance Mountain offers mellow groomed runs for beginners and intermediates. Mt. Tod features advanced terrain in open bowls, challenging gladed terrain, and long groomers, while Mt Morrisey facing north has thigh burning cruisers as well as a few steeps.

The terrain split for Sun Peaks is 10% beginner, 58% intermediate, and 32% advanced/expert - so Sun Peaks has terrain for all abilities. The intermediates in particular will love Sun Peaks and the abundance of fantastic groomed runs. The ski and snowboard terrain is serviced by 11 lifts including 5 quad chairs, 1 triple chair, and 5 surface lifts. On average they receive 236” of snow per season. This is less than various other Canadian ski resorts, but the powder is pretty dry. Click here to download the alpine trail map.

For you Nordic (cross country) skiers, they have 37km (22 miles) of groomed and track set trails and 19km (11 miles) of back-country trails. Click here to download the cross country map.
