The Resort:

Located in southwest Colorado Crested Butte in the Gunnison National Forest and Elke Mountain Range, it's often labeled as Colorado's last great ski town with unique characteristics and a laid back atmosphere. The historic Victorian town only has a population of about 1,700. The resort offers awesome Big mountain skiing and fewer crowds than many other resorts. It's considered an "adventure" ski destination offering an expansive and diverse array of Green (18%) and Blue (29%) groomed trails suitable for any ability type. The remainder of the resort ski trails are classified as Advanced (21%) and Expert (32%). The charming town of Crested Butte is located 3 miles from Mt. Crested Butte (ski resort).

The Skiing:

Crested Butte has some 1,547 skiable acres and 15 lifts and 162 runs. With 300 inches of snow annually and a variety of terrain, skiers and riders will find something to suit their style. The elevation ranges from 9,375 to 12,162 feet.

Crested Butte is best known for its diverse extreme terrain with the upper parts of the mountain containing steep and rocky chutes, tree glades, bowls and cliff drops.  Some of North Americas most advanced inbounds terrain is located at Crested Butte and the resort is home to various freeskiing championships. It's longest run is 2.6 miles. The resort also offers cross country skiing on the impressive 34 miles of groomed trails, or snowmobiling, tubing, horse riding, snowshoeing, and ice skating (rentals available.

Crested Butte potentially has the best cross country skiing in Colorado that meanders around the outskirts of town. The trails are groomed for both classic and skate skiing, and cater for novices up to advanced skiers. The Crested Butte area also offers backcountry skiing opportunities galore.
