Mt. Bachelor, OR

Texas Ski Council Winter Shootout
February 6-13, 2010

One of the Great Legends of the Northwest

It’ All About the Snow!

Fantastic Price!

Skiing:

Located in central Oregon, Mt. Bachelor rises 9,065 feet from the high desert floor creating an endless winter from Thanksgiving to July!  The mountain has an almost mythic reputation among purists for the quality of its snow -- a light, dry, high-desert powder unlike any other in this part of the world.  370 pristine inches a year dust 71 runs well distributed across 360 degrees of this extinct volcano.  A comprehensive series of chairlifts gives access to the entire mountain covering powder chutes, forested trails, cruising runs, above-the-tree line snow fields with fun for every ability level.  By careful design, beginner, intermediate and advanced terrain is accessible off most lifts so families and friends can enjoy their favorite type of skiing and still stay in the same general area to ride the lifts.  With 3,686 acres of skiable terrain, you won’t get bored with this majestic beauty.

Lodging:
We will be staying in 2 bedroom 2 bath condos at the four diamond Sunriver Resort, one of the premier resorts in the Northwest, located just 15 miles from Mt Bachelor and 17 miles from Bend, OR.  The resort is nestled next to the Deschutes River on 3,300 acres of lush meadows and pine forests.  Sunriver Resort is huge and offers lots of recreational activities, amenities and five dining options.  Transportation is included in the price and will be easy and plentiful on the special buses they are providing to take you to Mt Bachelor and to Bend, OR.

The Town:

A warm inviting mountain getaway with a cosmopolitan appeal is what you’ll find when you arrive in the friendly town of Bend. Despite the modest size of approximately 82,000, it is the largest city in Central Oregon.  Like many timber towns, Bend went through the boom-bust-boom ritual. Today, swanky bars occupy defunct mill buildings. Ski bums and software execs mingle over creamy pints at no fewer than five microbreweries. Old-timers drink $2 PBR’s alongside all manner of fried grub at the D&D Bar & Grill, while next door, the newly opened Volo serves foie-gras brûlée and “Oregonzola” crusted filets. Kids can make their own pizza at Flatbread Community Oven.

Transportation:

You will fly non-stop to San Francisco, change planes and on to Portland, arriving late afternoon. A stop for dinner at a brew pub along the way will provide sustenance and merriment for our 3 hour ride to Sunriver.
